Dealing With Sleep Apne
Sleep apnea is the break in a person’s regular breathing cycle during sleeping. Interruptions can be as many as 30 time an hour and can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. All these interruptions will not let a person go into REM sleep or get a good night sleep and rest. If you do not have a full night rest several days in a role do to sleep apnea, you will start to perform poorly at work and even make it hard to drive safely. Thankfully there are some remedies that can help you overcome sleep apnea disorder.
First, if you are overweight there is a chance that you have some extra fat on your neck area which puts pressure on your airway passage. One way to alleviate the pressure would be to consider using an extra pillow to elevate your head about five inches and help you breathe easier and even help you with the snoring. Another way would be to try to lose at least 10% of your weight which would definitely improve your breathing and help you get some good quality sleep that is much needed. By doing this you are also improving your overall heath which is like killing two birds with one stone.
Another remedy is to use CPAP(Continuous Positive Airway pressure) . CPAP is a device that is very commonly used to treat moderate to severe sleep apnea. It is a small mask that goes over your nose while you sleep that sends pressurized air which pushes your tongue forward and opens your airway passage to help you breath during the night. Make adjustments and give yourself some time to get used to having a foreign object over your nose. It is important not to give up since this is a very good device for sleep apnea help.
Lastly, sleep apnea surgery could be considered if CPAP has not improved your breathing if you suffer from severe sleep apnea. In this kind of surgery, either your tonsils may be taken out or any excess tissue found in the back of your throat and sometime in your nose. Surgery could be a permanent solution, but no one is ever free from complications or infections that can happen with any surgery. Make sure you have exhausted every alternative remedy before taking up surgery.
