Are Snore Aids Really Effective?
When you decide to buy a remedy for your partner’s snoring issues, take the time to think and consider all aspects before you hit the drug store. It doesn’t follow that over the counter snore aids are your best immediate solution even if heavy snoring may indicate a much serious health condition and cause sleep disruption.
Before you buy any snore aid, make sure that you have already ruled out sleep apnea. Have your partner checked with a doctor and consult whether his snoring problems are caused by exactly what factors – you might know it, but you might be overlooking some dangerous health conditions. You need more than the usual over the counter snore remedies once you find out that your partner suffers from moderate to severe sleep apnea–a condition in which the person’s airway is obstructed which causes the snoring or the short gasp of air or breath while asleep. It might be that your spouse needs a prescribed medical device and might even be surgery.
You must not be celebrating if your spouse’s condition is said to be manageable. Don’t wait for miracles to happen. It is said that there are around 300 patents of snore aids that are available in the market–some of it are nasal strips, sprays, and even alternative medicine like acupressive finger rings. When it comes to the specific cause of snoring, these various products have different targets. Being that there are certain products that cure specific types of snoring problems like nasal congestion and sleeping on your back can aid you in figuring out the ultimate reason for your own condition.
Therefore, it is up to you the person’s preference after all–it is really up to him.. What works for one patient ay not work for another. But to sum it all up, you should not expect to gain huge results. Why? Because very little research has been done to prove and to test the effectiveness of these over the counter products.
So your best shot in helping your partner deal and treat his snoring problems is to consult with a doctor. Medical advice is still the best cure to everything, even to those seemingly minor health concerns like snoring.
